The Châteauguay 2020 Summit is a process whereby residents, and the various groups that are part of the social fabric of Châteauguay, can express their opinions and discuss various subjects. This democratic process will provide the new municipal council ; led by Mayor Nathalie Simon, with insights to help lay the foundations of the Châteauguay of today and that of tomorrow. The horizon chosen was the year 2020.
Public participation activities are planned in order to give everyone the chance to actively participate in this decision-making process. The first stage includes a series of communication and information activities, as well as the holding of public consultations featuring four themed workshops. One of these workshops, the youth workshop, is intended for participants who are 25 years of age and under who can express their opinions on subjects that are important to them. These consultation activities will be an opportunity for residents, organizations, partners and the youth to learn about and discuss the challenges faced by the municipality in four areas:
- sustainable and concrete development ;
- the family ;
- the honest and competent administration of the municipality ;
- the youth (the vision of those 25 years of age and under).
The second step, the citizen’s Summit, is the culmination of the participation of residents. The overall guiding principles of future policies, which will come from the public consultations, will be presented to the residents and adopted by the participants at the Summit.
