For the present municipal council, the family is the symbol of our community. In the larger sense, it refers to the greater Châteauguay family ; the groups, the organizations. The family is the sum of all of the people that belong to it : the children, the teens, their parents and grandparents. We are speaking of the traditional family, single parent family and step-family. In order for it to blossom we must provide it with a framework that is healthy, safe, beautiful and interesting.
A mature city, Châteauguay includes among its residents, people of all ages and of all origins. Founding families or new arrivals share an environment that must be modeled on the needs of the reality of today.
What are the steps needed to improve our collective quality of life ? What do we want to establish in our municipality ? What should be included in the family policy ? What actions must we prioritize? How must we share the public places ? What more must we do to have a healthy and safe environment where everyone can grow and live in harmony ?
The new municipal council would like to put forward the concept of neighbourhood policing that would be closer to the people and erect pathways for pedestrians as well as cyclists. With the agreement of residents, it hopes to improve the parks to better harmonize with the residents of the area and the generations of people who live there. Public transit that is better adapted to the needs of our community that serves the various neighbourhoods of the municipality and that offers itineraries towards the east of the MRC de Roussillon, and not only towards Montréal. The new council wants to consult residents on a proposal to create more free recreational activities for the youth in the neighbourhoods.
Finally, from the Châteauguay 2020 consultations, the council plans to present residents with a plan of action on families that brings together shared values and that deals with the various required areas of intervention in which the municipality must act. Women, most notably from the Table de concertation petite enfance, from the Station l’Aventure and the Club FADOQ Saint-Joachim, have already done important work to lay the groundwork for what Châteauguay can offer.  It is now your turn to provide your proposals and possible actions that will ensure that Châteauguay is a great place to live as a family.
